Stop bugging me

In 2013 we moved to Hawai’i and were living in Mililani (Oah’u). It was a small house built in the 1960s and the neighborhood was very quiet.

Houses in that area don’t have insulation or air conditioning, so it’s pretty easy to hear things even things going on in the neighbors house. We got used to that but what was harder to get used to was the weird things that happened there. 

Occasionally, it would sound like a kid was in the house even when mine were at school. I just shrugged it off as coming from a neighbors house. One time I heard the closed front door creak open, and when I turned, it was opening by itself. I just stood there and watched it. 

I told myself it was probably just the wind. 

Another time, I was sitting in the living room and saw a cup go flying across the kitchen. That time I knew it wasn’t the wind because there was no window in there and the cup flew with such force that it was like someone had thrown it. 

I simply asked the spirit to leave and added it to my mental list of unexplained incidents in the house. 

But one night stands out to me more than any other. This specific night was something out of a horror movie. 

Anyone who has lived in Hawai’i knows that the bugs can be pretty huge, especially the roaches. So, of course we saw them occasionally. Mostly, if we went walking in the evening. 

Once in a while we would see one on the wall inside because the house had slat windows and no sort of seals to keep things out. 

So, one night my husband and I were in bed watching tv and I heard a buzzing sort of sound, like insect wings. From the bed, I can see that there is a roach on the outside of the slat window in our bathroom. I asked him to try to knock it off, which he did. 

Then I heard the noise again but this time on the window next to our bed. This time he decided to  go outside to try to get it. I stayed inside. 

Once outside, I started to hear him bang on the house, first near our bedroom and then on other parts of the house. He was outside for quite a while. When he came back in, he said that there were roaches all over the outside of the house, like in a horror movie. 

Every time he smashed one, more would come. Needless to say, I did not sleep well that night. The entire time we lived there, nothing like that ever happened again. But it left an impression.
Many people have had odd experiences in their homes, including hauntings like these.
